See Her Elected is delighted to team up with Roscommon County Council to deliver a series of Information Seminars supporting female participation in the Local Government sector. The events will run throughout County Roscommon this March and April.
The seminars will also examine the history of women in politics in Roscommon, the functions of Roscommon County Council and the day-to-day role of a county councillor. There will be video content, interactive feedback and a Q & A session to gain valuable insight for those in attendance.
‘Increasing the participation of women & diversity in Local Government’ seminars aims to demystify politics for women and encourage them to engage in the local Government. The free in person events will run in three separate locations and will be of approximately two hours duration.
The first of the sessions will take place in Chamber of Roscommon County Council on Wednesday, March 12th from 10am with light refreshments served on arrival from 9.30am. Chief Executive of the local authority, Shane Tiernan will address those present. The event coincide with a series of local events celebrating International Women’s Day, taking place earlier in March.
A further session will take place on Wednesday, March 26th in King House Boyle. Proceedings will begin at the slightly later time of 10.30am with refreshments on arrival at 10am.
A third and final Information Session will be held in the Athlone Springs Hotel, Monksland on Tuesday, April 8th from 7.30pm with again refreshments on arrival from 7pm.

A free shuttle bus will be provided for each of the sessions, subject to demand, with local drop-on/drop off points.
The sessions are free to all who have an interest in empowering women and persons of diverse backgrounds to engage with Local Government and be informed as to how the institutions best serve local citizens.
The seminars will look both at the history and current representations of women on Roscommon County Council and on local authorities as a whole to gain a better understanding of how women are represented.
